Let the Countdown Begin
Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllls
It’s December.
The final chapter of the year.
This is traditionally a time for reflection—a moment to pause and look back on the past eleven months. We think about the goals we accomplished, the ones that fell by the wayside, and the little promises we made to ourselves but didn’t quite keep. The books left unread. The pounds we planned to lose but didn’t. The recipes we said we’d try but never made it out of our Instagram folder.
For me, one of my big goals for 2024 was to visit four states I’d never been to before and, finally, dust off my passport. Well, I managed one state (Washington—Seattle is incredible, by the way), but my passport? Still as dusty as those items you bought last year on Black Friday.
Is anyone else still holding onto that unused Pilates bar?
I’ll admit, sometimes I lack focus. Distractions are tempting—they’re fun, easy, and sometimes exactly what I need. And this past month, I leaned into distraction more than I’d like to admit.
But now, it’s reflection season, and I’m sitting with the uncomfortable reality of wasted time. Yes, time can be wasted. The silver lining, though, is recognizing it—and realizing there’s still a chance to course-correct. To do better. To be better.
So, this December, I’m setting my goals for 2025. I’m keeping it simple: just four goals. I’ve learned that a long list often leads to overwhelm and distraction. Four feels doable—manageable. And while it doesn’t mean I can’t achieve more, it does mean those four will be my focus.
I’m feeling hopeful. Excited.
What about you? What are your go-to tools or strategies for setting and sticking to goals? Let’s share and inspire each other.
